We are looking for an energetic and hardworking product lawyer to join our Product Counsel Legal team. This individual will support the servicing and underwriting lifecycle for payments, BNPL loans, including underwriting, servicing, and collections. The best candidate will be flexible enough to engage in a wide range of projects and matters in support of Affirm’s strategic objectives. What You’ll Do:
– Counsel Affirm’s Business teams and other cross-functional stakeholders on relevant consumer financial services laws and regulations affecting new and existing products and services, including the PSD2, Regulatory compliance. Advise on relevant financial regulatory requirements: including PSD2, AML/KYC, EU Directive and Dutch Consumer Rights laws. e.g. PSD2, AMLD, CBPR2, MTRs, DORA, SCA
– Support foundational legal and regulatory frameworks that cover payments, e-commerce, and online platforms
– Support Affirm’s origination and servicing of loan and payment products
– Provide strategic advice regarding EU consumer finance and protection laws
– Monitor legal and regulatory developments in consumer lending and servicing
– Be a trusted advisor and teammate, sharing legal and other expertise and support when needed
– Identify and evaluate business and legal risks and act as a trusted partner for creative legal problem-solving
– Draft terms and conditions, disclosures, review copy
– Create and solve initiatives related to new and existing Affirm products to ensure business partners are supported
What We Look For:
– 6+ years of related business, government, or fintech experience, preferably with a focus on Payments, Consumer Credit, Banking, or BNPL
– Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years PQE, and ideally 7 years of professional legal experience
– Expertise in all areas of the consumer credit lifecycle, including originations, underwriting, licensing, KYC/AML, servicing, credit reporting, & collections
– Experience in private practice and in-house roles
– Quick learner with a genuine interest in legal analysis and collaboration in a fast-paced environment
– Experience developing creative approaches to legal challenges and providing business-focused legal advice
– Inquisitive and proactive in risk identification and proposing solutions
– Strong project management, critical thinking, creativity, and analytical skills
– Focused on maintaining positive relationships and trust with cross-functional business partners
– Passion for improving credit products and consumer experiences
Additional Information:
– Base Pay Grade: O
– Equity Grade: 5
– ESP base pay range per year: €96,000 – €126,000

– Remote Spain. Affirm is a remote-first company, offering flexibility to work almost anywhere within the country. Occasionally some roles may require working out of an assigned office.
